Upright Doll Cake for Little Shereen

Little Shereen is turning 5?! Gosh, time does fly fast. Shereen is my bff Shen's eldest daughter. She's such an adorable little doll and a friendly one too!

For her 5th birthday, she made a request to her mom that she would like a doll cake. So mummy Shen ordered this special choc moist upright doll cake for the birthday girl. I would usually recommend it for a party with 30 - 50 people. Shen didn't realize that the cake would be that BIG.
I heard Shereen was so excited with her cake that she wanted to cut it as soon as they reached home. She's just too cute! Shen and family celebrated Shereen's birthday the next day and well... they had birthday cake leftovers for many days after that! I understand that Shen is now dieting hard to loose all the weight gained from eating Shereen's leftover birthday cake. :)

Upright Doll Cake for Pn Marzu

I received this order from Marzu of Kemensah also while I was in PD a few days ago. I just came to know that Marzu was my sister Ain's college-mate in UKM, and she taught my daughter Nurin when she was in IIUM Montessori, what a small world! Marzu now owns her own kindie franchise - Now-C-Heart Montessori.

Marzu's little daughter Camelia is turning 4 and loves Barbie Mariposa, so the doting mom ordered an upright doll cake that was inspired by it. The actual Barbie Mariposa had knee length skirt, well obviously that won't do for this cake (how would it stand?). Lucky Nurin has the doll, I borrowed it to replicate the dress. The only thing that wasn't there were the wings. There's no way to attach it, it would've been possible on a fondant doll cake though. (Hmm.. it's something for me to ponder upon.. will do more experiments!) I finished decorating the cake at 1.30am, was very pleased with the final product. I am glad Marzu and Camelia were happy with it. It came to my attention that Camelia had guarded her cake protectively so no one could come near it at the party. LOLs! Kids do the funniest things... Happy 4th birthday dear Camelia!

Upright Doll Cake for Pn Siti Masnira

GG Home Biz's first order for year 2011! My old friend Masnira from ITM ordered this upright doll cake for her darling daughter Adlin Dayana. This cake was a gift to Adlin for being able to read (she's so lucky to have such a great mom). I thought it's for her birthday! Mas asked for a light blue and light purple colour combination for the dress, quite a challenge as I thought both colours were a bit dreary just by themselves, so I added some white finishing to balance out the blue hues... The grass and flowers (which Mas also requested) helped to bring out the "cheerfulness" of the doll cake. I'm sohappy Mas and Adlin love the cake!

Upright Princess Cake for my little niece Lana

This was made for little miss Tyra Banks Rawang - Lana. My niece Lana loves everything Princess and pink. My SIL Julia ordered this cake as a surprise for Lana's 5th birthday party back in June 2010. For this cake, I baked pineapple flavoured sponge and covered it with buttercream. I love making doll cakes, I let my imagination run wild designing the dress. The finished product reminded me of Mary (of Mary had a little lamb rhyme), in her white frilly frocks without her shepherd's stick. :)  I added the pink swags and tiny purple roses to make it look more "princessy".

When we finally revealed the cake, Lana went silent for a second (she usually talks non-stop, mulut rice pops!). She had, many months before her birthday, "ordered" this cake for her party from me. I got a great big hug from the birthday girl who then said,"Lana dah lama nak cake Barbie ni. Thank you Maklong!". Awwww... She melted my heart...
